DESERT STATE OF MIND...

We went south today and without words I just let speak some impressions...
It was a great and glorious day.

Negev Desert, Large Makhtesh

A makhtesh is a geological landform considered unique to the Negev desert of Israel and the Sinai peninsula of Egypt. A makhtesh has steep walls of resistant rock surrounding a deep closed valley which is usually drained by a single wadi. The valleys have limited vegetation and soil, containing a variety of different colored rocks and diverse fauna and flora. (Wikipedia)

AND THEN HE MET THE KANGAROOS...

What would be a visit to Australia, even "only" on a business trip, and only to a tiny part of this large continent, without making the acquaintance of that funny animal with the powerful tail and hind legs, and the, proportional, tiny front legs. And, oh yes, a pocket for the babies at the females! How gorgeous!

Now these encounters can sometimes end painful for the human onlooker, but my husband told me that he and the big guy checked each other out, and that there was a mutual feeling of peace. The distance to him was about five meters, and obviously he did not feel any danger for his gang.

My husband said that he was so excited that goosebumps appeared on his arms! :-)

THE CUTE STUFF...

There are many many different kinds of eucalyptus trees in Australia. And who lives in them? How lucky my husband was to meet them on his outings - the sweet Koala bears.

AUSTRALIA continued...

He met many strange creatures while hiking in the bush on the weekends. Beautiful ones, odd ones, cute ones, poisonous ones, curious ones, dangerous ones - I will show you some more over the next days.

FOR BOB THE BIRD LOVER - AND FOR YOU :-)

My husband was on a three week business trip to Australia last month. These  photos were taken during an excursion to a State Nature Park not far from Canberra on one of the free weekends.

More tomorrow.

HANDS

Hands - these two here are good, strong, and pretty hands, and belong to two people very close and dear to me!

Hands are always beautiful, young hands, old hands, small hands, big hands, strong hands, fragile hands.

They are a gorgeous, fantastic, magnificent tool of our body. Yes, they deserve all of these strong words.

Hands are the greatest blessing ever. Hands have a soul of their own - I do believe that.

We can do the best things with our hands, marvelous things, outstanding things, simple things. We can love with them, create with them, comfort with them, sign with them, the list is endless.

They can dance gracefully to music - and without.

They can plant a seed, and they can plant a tree.

They could change the world, if we only could decide never to use them for violence!

Let us love and cherish our hands. We must be grateful for our hands, we should thank them everyday!
